Dinner planning consists of opening the fridge and staring at things until something jumps out at me.

I had to double check though.

Have to go get something for dinner. Maybe some calamare and have it with linguine in a nice white wine sauce w a green salad.

My middle daughter did the cooking. I just conducted. Asparagus, feta, yellow squash, tomatoes, apple, red and green peppers, and mushrooms in a stir-fry sort of thing (steamed the asparagus). Damn that was good. The omelets will be easy. All I need to do is mix the eggs and milk and I'm golden!!!

Maybe fish and chips for the kids. Or soup and grilled cheese. Madster has soccer practice so it needs to be quick and easy.

A veggie stew - sauteed onion, garlic and celery - add a can of tomatoes, a small sweet potato diced small, half a pound of okra sliced, and a can of blackeye peas, and enough water so it doesn't stick. Cayenne, thyme, bay leaf and black pepper for seasoning. When the sweet potatoes are tender, I add a couple spoonfuls of natural peanut butter to bind it a little. I could have cooked rice right in the stew, I guess, but I wasn't sure about how much water to use in that case, so I just served it over rice. Turned out well - my 18 and 15 yo sons ate it with only minor grousing about the presence of the peanut butter from the younger one.

Today is Thursday, the 8th, but probably lots of us are wishing it was Friday!

Not sure what to do. Maybe bread and bake, so we can eat them over the weekend.

No groceries until I get a ride into town - maybe Monday or Tuesday next week.

Not sure what to have on the side. I've got some carrots and love a carrot/raisin salad, so maybe that would go well.

I will just sip on this screwdriver and contemplate while the sun goes down.

It's absolutely beautiful out here right now.

and he called. the train is running an hour or so late but he sounds good and says hello. He's looking forward to a bath and a nap in a bed. I've got an errand to run in the am, so he'll have some downtime to do whatever he wants.
