Short ribs in sauce. Sauce: potato, carrot, aji spicy pepper, ginger, 2 T butter and liquid from stewing the short ribs, all blended together. I had a taste a short time ago and it was all I could do to restrain myself until dinner. This may be one of the best dishes the RG has ever made.
Not exactly summer food. Maybe we'll have it room temp.
Now me, I plan on making a big tossed salad, as I have not had one in several days. I still have beautiful lettuce from the garden to use.
Dessert: blueberries and yogurt with toasted walnuts.

(1,537 posts)I'm more of a fan of the big bone short ribs, not the thin cut. I use Lipton Onion soup as a braising liquid when I'm pressed for time, otherwise beef stock, onions and garlic. Braised for five hours at low heat. They fall off the bone. Tonight might be a Corned beef Reuben sandwich.

The smartest no-cook dessert you can make is a fool
Fool might be an odd name for dessert, but it has been served for centuries, and no one is quite sure why it is called that. Making it, though, is a pretty smart thing to do considering how easy it is and the reward of doing so: a delightfully creamy whip, infused with the essence of fresh berries.
A traditional British fool is made with a custard or an all-whipped cream base, but this one takes advantage of the creaminess of thick Greek yogurt, folding in just a bit of whipped cream to yield a happy balance of richness and healthfulness. The yogurt also adds a lovely, subtly tangy dimension.

FLFC is dozing, so no menu or rating. For some reason his sleep schedule changed over the past few weeks. He had a busy day and was out three times. His orthopedic surgeon visit and x-ray went well today. No problems were found and we are to gradually increase his physical activity over the next 4 weeks.
