We went out for Valentine's Day last night at the castle-type place on the cliff overlooking NYC's skyline. We had Valentine's Day dinner last night, due to wanting to avoid crowds. We had a big seafood platter with crab and shrimp. Also oysters and a little lobster.
Then I had Norwegian salmon with butternut squash flavored with sage. I so enjoyed this! There were a couple of vegetable-type bases on which it was served. Creamy type things.
I wasn't going to order dessert, but the RG ordered one for me anyway. It was lemon cheesecake and it came with this sugar-crystal decoration on top. The lemon cheesecake was shaped in a dome and it had blackberries sprinkled over the top. To the right was a square of ice cream.
Tonight, however, we're staying home and at my request, the RG made a chicken curry dish with this curry his granddaughter sent us. Zucchini salad to go with.
Dessert will be raspberry-filled cookies in the shape of hearts.

(46,114 posts)Paprika-Rubbed Pork
The recipe called for 2 lbs of pork tenderloin and I substituted a 2 lb pork loin, not tied.
What made it work was the rub was both hot paprika and sweet Hungarian paprika. The sauce was sliced garlic, honey, sherry vinegar, chicken broth, and butter.
I used an oblong cast iron roasting pan.
It came out great.
