I found a long time ago that if you make a chick patty and put it on a hamburger bun with a slice of American cheese (good stuff like Cooper's, not the Kraft shit) and use Tarter sauce, it is damn close to what I remember McFood's fish sandwiches being like.

I just bought a real paella pan, so we're having paella for dinner. Assuming, of course, that the wife is able to eat it. She's got a cold/maybe strep so there's also a big pot of split pea soup on the stove.

I hope your wife feels better soon!

We have a friend coming in for a few days, and I have been trying to get things ready. It's been a bad week for me, so I am nibbling on crap that gives me fake energy so I can get things done.

I have been eating fruit too though, and I just roasted some chicken off for tomorrows enchiladas, so I may sneak in a bit of protein.

Put on a plate and on top put a couple of spoon full of cottage cheese and sliced tomatoe. Enjoy.

Family potluck earlier in the day -- retirement party for a cousin. I had to make quite a bit of food for that crowd, so tonight was just small burgers and chocolate milk. Mmmm.

For the party, I made a fresh strawberry whipped cream cake, a loaf of dilly bread, a ham loaf and a pan of scalloped potatoes au gratin.

And grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. We vegged out in front of the TV all afternoon watching a Yankees Spring training game and NASCAR. Tomorrow's afternoon schedule will be the same.

Chinese barbequed ribs, chicken stir fry, green salad with ginger dressing, noodle salad with tofu. Free beer and wine! (For DH only--I was the designated driver).

The meeting was our largest ever--we had Amy Goodman as a national draw.
