What's for Dinner, Wed., Dec. 20, 2017

We're headed to the airport, but on the way we'll catch an early dinner at one of our favorite pubs. This pub is always beautifully decorated for Christmas. I'm planning on having a Reuben, onion rings, and chili. Plus a glass of red wine. The RG will no doubt have his usual lamb burger, being the lamb-loving Scotsman that he is.

But not to worry, I'm not leaving, so I'll be posting the "What's for Dinner" thread as usual. He always goes to Switzerland for a week or 10 days at Christmas to hang out with his buddies in a chateau near Lake Lucerne.

A little produce mart had some nice, big smoked pork shanks when we dropped by the other day, so it'll be spicy red beans and ham served over white rice, with salad. Several servings in the freezer.

I bought a bag of frozen kale for the first time, and I might try cooking some of that down with garlic, or whatever, as a bit of a side and see how it goes over. "Bit" because my husband's sure he doesn't like kale.

It's my birthday and I wanted Chinese take-out (hey! It's traditional for the Jewish holidays), and for dessert we are making brownie sundaes. I made hot fudge, a first.
