Lamb, cubed. It is ever so tender, having been simmered for about 2 hours. The sauce is made by combining one of those drink combinations from Whole Foods (in this case, ginger, turmeric, carrot) with tomato sauce. Very spicy.
Chanterelles cooked in butter and olive oil and tossed with a couple tablespoons of Triple Sec at the last minute. Also carrots, potatoes, rutabaga, and zucchini.
For dessert, la leche cake, which is this crumbly cake soaked in half 'n half, sweetened condensed milk, and something else that I can't remember.

for nostalgia's sake: jellied cranberry sauce. (It's not "turkey" until you hear the <slurp> as the jelly escapes from the can.)

(35,746 posts)Jump the gun on Thanksgiving, that is.
Me, I do the same, but in a different way. For example, if I am invited to a party, I'm three sheets to the wind before I even get to the party.
Sometimes I'm even a day or two early for the party. I've never been told to go home, though. People always manage to scrounge up a drink or two for the "early guest."

(2,016 posts)I am notoriously an "early arriver" for parties. Mainly, this in order to help out in the kitchen as prep cook. So long as the hosts keep the vino flowing, I'll keep working. For the larger parties, I'll show up a 1/2 day early. It's gotten to the point that my friends now plan on it - which I don't mind. This allows me to have conversations with the party hosts (ie - play catch up) long before they have to play "host", with the inevitable divided attentions.
Yeah, I have been jumping the gun on Thanksgiving! Probably because this is the first week I hadn't used my AC here in the desert. This means.... soups and stews are a'comin' ! (Like hot weather ever stopped me from making soup...)
