Not exactly 'what's for dinner,' Palate Cleanser

This is what it looked like when I grew up in Brooklyn! Paper cup MANDATORY! Sorry my 'manufactured' cup doesn't look the same, and isn't squeezable, but the lemon ices taste pretty good!

There are lots of easy recipes and even non-cooks can quickly make a pan of fruity Italian style ice. Lemon is great, I like Grapefruit, and Cranberry flavored ices, too.

When I moved to Chicago (in the 80's), there were still a few seasonal Italian ice shops in my neighborhood. The lemon was the best, with little bits of zest - also always in those flimsy paper cups.

I lived in Chicago for 10 years, '60s-70s, but not the right neighborhood for Italian ices, rather, the Obama's neighborhood! 'My' current Italian ices, from grocery store, actually have the little bits of zest, but NOT our flimsy paper cups.
