I don't get to cook on weeknights (you guys know what I mean by "get to" because I am cooking at a group home for intellectually disabled young adults. I've never loved a job more than I love that job. But it makes me appreciate the nights I do get to cook for my family.
Anyway, my husband and son are happy to take over the weeknight cooking. They both decline, however, to do any meal planning. So I keep my hand in with that task - I can still search for recipes to try out, though I need to be sure they're not too complex.
This afternoon I was sure I'd need to write out my method for beef stew, but my husband had the task well in hand when I got home from my daytime job.
Moral of the story is, I guess, that cooking needn't be a horribly necessary daily chore, but a joy and a way to express your creativity and love.
