Tossed mesclun with veggies like green pepper, cucumber, scallion, and mushroom. Balsamic dressing that I made myself.
Roasted Brussels sprouts.
Stuffed yellow pepper with ground beef, tomato sauce, onions, celery, etc. Topped with cheese.
Chardonnay.
For dessert, some vanilla-Swiss almond ice cream (my fave flavor of HaagenDaz) with chocolate-covered banana.

(16,104 posts)Down in Texas, we used to get it from peyote buttons - turns out that is not the salad you are tossing!
I pointed out your posts to my wife.
She saw RG and looked at me and said, "Really Gigantic?"
Yes - I'm the RG in my family!
You repeatedly plan the most sublime meals! Big fan!

(2,016 posts)Cleaning out the last of leftovers throughout the day/evening: hot n' sour soup, maybe a meatball sanswich later, then probably a salad of misc. veggies. Off to the market tomorrow to start again!
(I'm craving a pot roast, so maybe tomorrow...)
ps: Went to a new ramen bar in Pasadena last night. OMG - great broth. Worth the wait in line (which I normally detest and avoid). Would definitely go again.

(7,473 posts)If you are from New England, you should see Blake's in the freezer section of your grocery store. I know Stop & Shop and Market Basket sell these great pies. I used to make my own chicken pie but these are great and save me a ton of time and effort. Beautiful white chicken(no funny pcs.) I buy the one w/veggies but it is available without. A great pie, it comes in individual size but I buy the big one and use leftovers for the next day.
Nothing hard about making a chicken pie but these are really good. Usually $5.99 for the big one but it goes on sale periodically for about $2.99. I stock up the freezer.
I am on an escarole kick now, my salad is made w/ escarole, sliced onion, cukes, black olives. I use garlic wine vinegar, a little oil and kosher salt. Simple and good.
PS. For garlic wine vinegar, I buy a bottle of red wine vinegar (79 cents), add a peeled, crushed garlic clove and just let it sit. Lasts for ages and is much cheaper than buying the same item with some important label.
I just checked: the Blake's wed site:

(14,733 posts)Cause we've got some ground beef.
Kind of a slow day, picked up some sundries for the house, cleaning and storage supplies, getting the pantry back in order now that the new flooring is in place, still cold, but warm in the sun when the wind wasn't blowing, so the dogs got to run a lot. Splurged and bought a bottle of sarsparilla to go with dinner, heh. Instant iced tea or coffee gets old with every meal. I so want to be working on the garden, but I don't dare for at least a month, month and a half, and even then it'll be a gamble, we're not truly 'safe' from bad weather til May. Still, I think there might be a few hearty things I can get in the ground in late March. Need to remember to get out to the DMV Monday and renew my tags, as well as send in my malpractice insurance renewal.
