(35,675 posts)sorry, everyone.
As you notice, I've been messing up a bit lately. That's 'cuz I have so much work that I can hardly keep on top of it, plus my house and all that.
But I'll get a grip. Hang in there with me, please.

(2,016 posts)I finished the last of the lasagna for lunch, and I'll polish off the shrimp gumbo tonight. I'll start fresh again tomorrow.
Re: cbayer - been wondering myself where she's been. It's been awhile. Hope she's sailing someplace with calm seas and fair winds!

I've been doing a bit of contract coding for my old boss again of late, and just got a phone call that kinda reminded me why I got burnt out on coding in the first place. He always expects everything to take far less time than it actually does, and has slightly different priorities for what he feels should have been coded 'first', such that he thinks that when I mention the error trapping I've done on the functions I've been working on, that means I've already created the major parts of all the functions, and am now 'going back' to do what's 'less important'. I error trap as I go along, though, so that I hopefully don't forget pieces because I left a piece of code and have to return to it. When my code compiles, I expect the functionality to all be working - I don't want to spend a lot of extra time going back to figure out what got 'left out'. So I get anxious that I'm not working as quickly as he expects, and somewhat irritated at what seems to be micromanagement. Tack on the fact that I'm using code libraries that are new to me that I'm still learning and getting stuck on weird errors occasionally, and bouncing between database design, updating my installation scripts and Makefiles, writing the data processing code in one language and the presentation templates in another, and I'm already starting to get slightly frazzled again when I feel I had a productive day, and then he calls up and sounds like he expected far more for the time put in and is depressed at what I got done.

Yes, a white dinner -- I hate when that happens. But it was tasty. I made the sauce for the chicken by simply pouring a cup of half and half in after the chicken was cooked through, and stirring in a teaspoon of dijon. Simmered for a bit. It was tasty.
