I'm braising short ribs with a red wine reduction, and mashed potatoes.

On edit: I've also pulled some beef bones out of the freezer and am making some stock.

It's been dark most of the afternoon. I hear this is supposed to be quite a bad storm, but I haven't looked up the details yet. Anyway, I clicked reply on your post because I have been casually cooking for the last few hours, too, enjoying the fact that it's the weekend. I watched scary crime stories while separating Brussels sprouts leaves for one of my dishes. That will be cooked with chicken broth and thyme.

I'm also making crab-stuffed mushrooms using baby bellas.

I think for dessert, grapes, apple, and brie.

Decided not to make the soup.

Those braised short ribs sound wonderful for a stormy night.

I was photographing cowboy boots today and didn't want to cook and didn't want to go out to eat, so sent the old boy to the store. He brought back a rotisserie chicken.

I fixed the chicken with some RiceaRoni, fresh green beans with tarragon and a chopped salad with tomato vinaigrette.
I'd made another apple kuchen and cinnamon buttermilk ice cream a few days earlier and just a small bit was left, enough for a taste of something sweet for the two of us.

A nice, easy mid-day meal.
