I made something similar once, using garlic and sumac, but with peaches instead of plums. Either way, yum!
There's not a lot of demand for sumac where I now live, sadly.

That's where I was first introduced to sumac, while living in Los Angeles. I think it's a ground up berry from the plant, and it's sorta lemony and tart.
