Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumSo someone told me Monk fish tastes like lobster.
I poached a piece as instructed and I have to say, not so much. Is anyone here familiar with this fish who agrees with the lobster comparison? Maybe my cooking technique was wrong.

(111,339 posts)When it's turned into a fancy lobster dish with cream sauces and lots of flavorings, it'll fool all but the supertasters. The flavor isn't like lobster but it's mild enough not to overwhelm things like lobster Newburg. I've fooled people with it in lobster chowder and lobster salad. It won't fool anyone poached and served with butter.
Monkfish is also very good as itself.
They are ugly buggers, though.
