The longest day of the year, and the start of summer!
Turkey cutlets with panko crust. I'm going to make some sort of orange sauce to go with.
Tossed salad, already made. Has radishes, red and yellow pepper, cukes, and roasted cherry tomatoes in it.

(2,016 posts)I don't care about the outdoor heat - I want lasagna!
Made the sauce last night, and just finished assembling/layering just now. I'm gonna let it (and myself) sit for an hour, then into the oven it goes. Dishes are done, pots are cleaned. Think I'll search for a movie...

(35,671 posts)It's a lot of work, but I have noticed that homemade lasagna is the only thing that resolves that lasagna craving. I can go to the store and buy a frozen lasagna, but it never "hits the spot."
Homemade tomato sauce makes it even better!

(41,694 posts)All natural grassfed ribeyes, jalapeno-cheddar buns, sauteed onions with mushrooms and peppers, topped with a slice of real Swiss cheese.
Probably have a bowl of Alden's Vanilla ice cream with some fresh dewberries on top for dessert.

(14,733 posts)Montreal rubbed steaks for the parents, a regular NY strip for the housemate, and I just stuck to eating the sides, a rather too al dente bunch of snow peas and roasted cauliflower with a garlic butter sauce, since my toe has been tight again, suggesting I'm eating too much protein.
Hard to believe this was the first day of summer, given how warm (ok, hot) the spring has been. More of the potatoes have been in bloom, with those delicate lilac flowers, and I ate one of the berries off of the 'pink lemonade' blueberry bush. Seemed a bit bland, might not have been fully ripe. Not sure just how pink they have to be to be ripe.

(175,735 posts)The carbonara was from a jar and had absolutely no flavor. Blecchhh.
Carrots on the side. Cherries and apricots for dessert.

(9,825 posts)put on the grilled squash. I'll have to hack more off of them this week and make frozen pesto.

(35,671 posts)But the turkey cutlets were great. Most recipes called for orange marmalade, and I don't have any.
I used smoky pepper A-1 and sweet chili garlic sauce, also A-1, instead.

(36,827 posts)Pork shoulder cut up and seared, heavily seasoned with salt, cumin, dried ground chili, garlic, dried thyme and oregano, then sealed in aluminum foil and cooked low and slow for hours.
After cooking and resting the meat is shredded and served on corn tortillas with chopped cilantro, red onion, homemade salsa, and homemade sour cream. I also slow cooked some pinto beans and a ham hock, and we had corn chips to go along with some homemade guacamole and salsa.
