What's for dinner - Friday, April 10, 2015

A rather long work day yesterday (15 hrs), so there was no cooking for me. Today, however, is a day off.

I'm looking forward to a grilled rib eye steak, a big-ol' salad and a baked spud with all the trimmings. Oh, and a nice glass of bordeaux.

Happy weekend, all!

I've got sour cream, cheese and scallions to top is off, and that's just how I like it.

A cucumber salad with asian dressing to finish.

Enjoy your steak and potatoes!

Our four houseguests left this morning to head back to New York (state, not city), and the fridge is full of leftovers and things bought because we thought they might want them. Gave my parents the cantaloupe and the maple bagels right after. Just finished off mozza stuffed meatballs and marinara over angel hair. Might have some sliced up pineapple for dessert a bit later.

She's still using her teeth a bit too much, and we're still working on housebreaking, and have to make the fence around the patio taller, but we think she'll become less bitey/chewy over time and that finishing getting the fence tall enough she can't jump up and climb over it will help solve the housebreaking issue, as we'll be able to leave the doggy door open again without fear of having to chase her all over the back yards. She's already to the point where her indoor messes are all either in the bathroom by the garage door (on tile) or just inside the doggy door almost always on the puppy training mats. I've got about 2/3 of the patio fence high enough so far, just waiting on some restocking of the fencing I'm using at the home improvement store to finish it off.

It's very good news that she at least is choosing some specific places to go. She is one lucky dog.

got the meat and cheese platter at my pub - pastrami and salami with blue, goat and white cheddar cheese, olives and pickled asparagus. they serve it with pita chips, which i'm not thrilled about, but it was damned tasty. i only got through half before i was fit to bust, so the husband has something to nosh on. it won't fill him, so i fully expect we'll order in around 9 or so.

i am so ready for this weekend

I would have served with good bread, not pita, and some fruit, not asparagus.

But that's just me!

i usually just stick with the blt (best blt in town), i just wanted something different tonight. the pita chips really baffle me, but i just don't feel comfortable bringing it up. i agree that fresh bread would be more appropriate for it, but i love the asparagus.

but I'm with you on the bread. They probably serve the pita chips coz they seem to be a "thang" in some places.

Husband picked it up on the way home from work. Just some General Tso's, steamed veggies and rice. Was a nice break.

Looking forward to cold leftovers for breakfast, which is usually my real motivation for getting Chinese or Thai take-out.
