i rubbed the roast with garlic salt and a chili blend of the husband's doing, dropped it in the crock pot with a half cup of water and let if go on low for about eight hours.
the glaze (i doubled this)
½c brown sugar
½c water
¼c balsamic vinegar
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp cornstarch
i let the glaze thicken for about 20 minutes before i started using it. when i did get going, i removed the meat, dumped out the cooking liquid and coated the bottom of the crock pot with some of the glaze. i put the meat back in, brushed it with some of the glaze and let it go for about 15 minutes on high before i flipped it and brushed it again. 15 minutes later, i shredded the meat, dumped more glaze on it and let it go for another 15 minutes.
i topped the meat with caramelized onions and more glaze and served it with brown rice and roasted carrots. husband licked the plate, but next time is cut i think i'll cut a tbs or two of the sugar and add a couple pulverized cloves of garlic to the glaze.

(9,833 posts)with the garlic. I recently bought a smoked boston butt at a fundraiser for a cat rescue group. It was flavored with brown sugar and bourbon and man was it ever good. My mouth still waters when I think of how delicious that BBQ was.
