(146,218 posts)Weird but true.
I am going to make some veggie quesadillas and some guacamole and finish off the two meat stews we have left.
I also have to make a couple dozen deviled eggs for the pot luck tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve~

(106,886 posts)Got lucky. 2nd floor, right across from the rock and the bay. Great view from a window table setting.
Really gusty, but went down the street for fish 'n chips.
Beautiful sunset, weather's coming through in bands. Sun was in and out as it set. And a good basic fish 'n chip plate on the waterfront.
So glad I did this.
Tomorrow, feast, family and friends.

(20,234 posts)and spinach ravioli with alfredo sauce. Not sure if I want to add turnip greens into the sauce.
Budget notes:
I'm still doing the $2 a day per person grocery plan, so the ravioli was fresh pasta on manager's special ($1.79, Christmas splurge), sour cream was on markdown to 49¢. I got the turnip greens free at kmart for biking my 14 miles last week.
My grocery bill for Dec is $36.35 so far for two adults - I financed our food by buying vodka at a profit. My actual cost is $16.35 though since I found a twenty lying on a storm drain when I was pedaling around town hunting for the vodka.
edit - OMG, you'd think with all my budgeting I could subtract 20 from 30!

(146,218 posts)This sounds like a deal I would like to get in on.
Congratulations. I can't even come close. I went to the market today and spent 400 pesos, about $30. That will keep us in food for 7-10 days. I thought I was doing great, but you have me completely beat.

(20,234 posts)Veev vodka was $30 for a bottle.
There was a coupon on hopster that was $10, a rebate on the ibotta app for $15, an ibotta bonus if you redeemed at least $10, and $7 rebate on snap. ($12 profit)
There was a similar deal on the veev cocktails. (I'm loving the coconut one!). That was $12 a bottle, I got two for $24, and used a $5 off two coupon, with $9 back on ibotta, $4 on snap, $2.50 on berrycart, and once I added in another dollar of ibotta rebates, I got another $10 bonus back for cashing in a second ten dollars there. (6.50 profit)
And I got a final bottle of the coconut veev yesterday for $12, with $13 in rebates and after adding in another $4 in rebates (hellooooo chocolate hazelnut butter!) I got my third and final $10 bonus for that.
I'm envisioning lots of happy tipsy couponers this holiday season.
$30 for a week or more of food is great though! That is totally respectable.

(146,218 posts)I used to coupon and was amazed at how much I could save.
Now I live out of the country in a very small town, and it's the markets where I make my deals. Avocado for 20 pesos? I will give you 100 for 6.
I felt great about my shopping trip today, but if I could make money off vodka, I'd be in heaven, lol.
You are my hero.

(35,688 posts)the traditional Italian Christmas.
I used to enjoy them so much when I lived in my other place, a little north of here. The lawyer next door fixed up a big Italian seafood feast on Christmas Eve and always invited us. One year, to my great surprise, I had been working on grading some essays by a certain NYC author. I finished up and went next door: to my amazement, some characters from the essay were also guests! Will never forget that.
