What's for supper this Tuesday night, September 16, 2014?

We are having a farewell dinner for our last guest.

We will have gnocchi with a gorgonzola sauce.

Then a slow roasted Osso Bucco and green salad with fresh lettuce, basil and parsley.

No dessert for us!!

How about you?

Have cooked shrimp that needs to get into a dish. Chowder is it - milk, new potatoes, onion, celery, black pepper and butter. Or maybe a clear broth base with the potatoes, etc.

Neighbor gave me some sample packets of Louisiana Fish Fry brand cajun seasoning. I might try some. Label lists salt, spices, red pepper, garlic and paprika as sole ingredients.

We'll see.

Par boiled the potatoes with celery and the cajun spice mix in the broth. Sauteed onion 'till tender in butter, added diced tomatoes. Added the shrimp, turn, turn, turn real quick. Then the potatoes with the whole boil broth. Simmered a bit then set aside while I got a place set.

Pretty good soup / stew concoction.

....with the usual garnishes: coconut, scallions, dried apricots and raisins, and some chopped macadamia nuts. I wish I had enough for two meals! I loved having it over cauliflower instead of rice.

It is truly the "great substitute."

I've been thinking of doing chicken curry, but it will be awhile, what with all the terrific dishes the RG cooked up this week: two pork roasts, one meatloaf, plus various side dishes.

But when I do, I will try it over cauliflower. Prob'ly wouldn't have tried this had I not heard your positive review.

....and that's why I figured it would work. And I felt righteous after eating it.

I had couscous and I had bell peppers and I cooked the couscouse with veg broth and put some nuts and feta cheese and stuff stuffed the peppers and baked them. Yum.

Spinach and baby leaf salad with dried cranberries, boiled egg, apple, walnuts, blue cheese, olive oil and balsamic vinegar (I usually have a salad like this at least once a week. It's very very easy to prepare).

Heroin Chicken, which is chicken "fingers" coated in seasoned parmesan cheese (invented by the brilliant Dana Carpender) and baked, and angel-hair coleslaw. And spicy sauce for dipping the chicken!
