One recipe from the book:
2 C spinach
2 C water
1 C pineapple chunks
2 C frozen peaches
2 bananas

Mix greens and water in blend until mixture is a green juice-like consistency. Add remaining ingredients until creamy. Refrigerate.

(29,414 posts)How much does it make? I'd rather pare that down to a single serving and drink right away versus refrigerating. Although, I'd leave out the stevia. As much as I love that it's a natural sweetener, my tastebuds don't agree with my conscious mind
VitaMix has a similar smoothie for their new S-series, and I want that drink-container-blender system for my larger C-series. I hope they make an adapter!

(16,334 posts)We've tried several kinds but there's an aftertaste to some. I like the Pure Via version but my husband says it's too sweet. I find it just right and even less sweet than some.
Wondering if this is like the different ways people "taste" cilantro.

(29,414 posts)I can't remember the brands, though I did also try a stevia-sweetened brand of canned soft-drinks. I forced myself to finish them, and just tried to ignore that lousy aftertaste. I won't be doing that again!
You may be right about how people taste cilantro. One of my favorite flavors in Mexican food, yet I know plenty that can't stand it, and can pick it out easily.

That S30 version of the VitaMix does look great, especially for small or individual portions. I tend to make double-sized smoothies, so my larger C-series is good for my needs. Plus, I have a dry-blade container for things like grains and sugar. I've made powdered sugar with it, and it worked just as well as store-bought 10x

(2,012 posts)it's a "cleansing" for 10 days taking 3 smoothies a day plus high-protein snacks and crunchy veggies, or it can be modified by drinking 2 smoothies a day plus one meal of chicken or fish and veggies. She advises switching back to a more solid diet after 10 days but keep drinking a green smoothie one time a day. Sounds like it would be good for the digestive system as well as keeping weight down. I think I'll try it (after I come back from New Orleans lol).
My daughter uses Stevia in all her baking and drinks. I really don't care much for any of the sweeteners, especially in coffee and tea, but I sure do need to have my sweet tooth pulled.
