the fruits of my labor

my very, very sad rye bread (wound up getting a loaf at whole foods). i read over a few recipes for no knead rye bread and i figured it would be just like my other no knead loaves. nope, effers never rose. first time i thought the yeast was bad, but i opened another packet for the second loaf -which i inadvertently destroyed - and the third one. i'll try increasing the yeast next time and see if that makes a difference.

dad seemed happy about it, but the husband was blown away. i guess i know what he's getting for his birthday next month.

scrumptious! And valiant effort on the rye bread. Glad that you will continue your quest!

She says it's awesome, so I might make my first foray into non no knead bread baking.

I think other flours, even if used in limited amounts, are just too heavy.

But your pastrami and cole slaw look absolutely delicious and I'm glad the menfolks liked it!

A bit smaller than the white, but still good sized. If the extra yeast doesn't work, I'll try baking a regular loaf. That will be a whole new adventure.

Husband liked it so much, he had two giant sandwiches last night.
