(146,218 posts)The sliders were great and there are a few leftover. Still have some soup. And there are salad fixings that need eating.
But I also have the makings for tuna empanadas and a roasted poblano soup.
Hubby still under the weather, so I think I will save the good stuff for when he gets his taste buds back.
Hope you are feeling well today.

(15,090 posts)Didn't have time to cook dinner tonight because we're busy making sauerkraut balls for a family gathering tomorrow. They're traditional for the holidays in my husband's family and are a real mess to make.

I'm putting in red/green lettuce, romaine, scallions, green, yellow, and red pepper, celery, and cheddar cheese. If I have canned garbanzos, some of those, too. Using homemade French dressing. Oh, and chopped turkey bacon on top.
I would like soup, but am running out of time. I have some Whole Foods boxed soups so might just open one of them up--mushroom barley sounds good.
I never do prepared foods, but RG brought these home. Why I don't know, as he doesn't do prepared foods, either. But there they are, I guess for occasions like this.

Edited to add: it was beef-barley, 365 brand, and it wasn't bad. I'm sure it's probably high in salt: I didn't have the nerve to look at the sodium on the label.

(106,886 posts)Neighbor baked half a ham for a family Christmas, brought me over ~ a good pound, pound and a half last night in trade for pet sitting while he was up the road.
Besides immediately having a slice on rye with Dijon, I cut the triangle browned end off and set it to simmer in chicken stock. Finished today with new potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, onion, celery, garlic, thyme, rosemary, marjoram. Some worcestershire sauce.
