Just finished the Thanksgiving turkey.

Organic, free-range. Everything but the breast lasted about a week. I made 7 quarts of stock from the carcass. And from the stock, I made cream of turkey soup and a green lentil pottage with the breast and stock. Got a lot of mileage out of that bird.

Then, the day after, we bought another Turkey cause they practically give em away and we cooked another dinner. We call it Thanksalot. Lots of leftovers and another carcass. The first one I used th make a white bean soup. Not sure what I will use the second one for yet but the broth is in the freezer. Still have lotsof turkey left.

Our supermarket lowered prices from $1.49 to $.69 a pound.

So I bought 5 birds, totaling 69+ pounds for only $33.10 (saving more than $90). I donated them to a local food bank.
