Sorry for my mostly awol state this month...

It's been both really horrible, and also really awesome at times.

Two of my sisters came to visit early this month and it was wonderful to see them. It had been a few years since we were all together. I passed along a family ring that my mother had given to me, to my sister on her birthday and she was thrilled. Such a joyful day!

Unfortunately, my doc had tried me on adderall for extreme fatigue a few days before they arrived and by the time they got here, I was in major pain from a reaction to a dye in the tablet. NOT fun... and I've spent the month trying to get back to where I was before the pill. Isn't it funny how things don't seem quite as bad as you though they were when something happens to push you even farther down a painful path?

Anyway, I loved having my sisters here!!! We had a great visit. The other not so great part is that my wonderful nephew is finishing a round of chemo due to the return of his cancer, and about to go through a bone marrow procedure, so part of the reason for the visit was to bring Bill and I my sisters two cats and a tiny adorable chihuahua for an indefinite period of time while she is on the west coast with her son. We are all hoping for the best and prepared for the worst.

My other sister brought along her tablet PC for me to try, since I have been trying to decide what to buy after my last computer decided it didn't like me anymore. I've found that the tablets are perfect for me. Easy to use no matter where I am, since most days I really cant sit at my desk long enough to get much of anything done online, so hopefully I will be able to check in more often, after I order a tablet next week. It may not sound like a big deal, but it allows me to reconnect with the world again, and I was so happy to finally find a system that I can use on my good days as well as the bad ones.

So... it was great month on some fronts, and horrible on others. Thanks to everyone who started the dinner threads when I couldn't make it in. Hope this all makes sense! Not only am I medicine foggy, but I am trying to type this around two of the most adorable little kitties I've ever seen. It's been a little tough getting my two spoiled felines adjusted to the addition of two more cats and a dog, but other than an occasional skirmish, they are all getting along well.

Hope you are all happy and well. I'll try and read to catch up with everyone over the next week or so.

It seems to have been a challenging month for a lot of folks.

Yay for tablets! I have one for traveling. I thought I would use it more, but since I so enjoy the back lit keyboard on my Dell laptop, that just keeps being pulled out every evening.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the critters! Good thoughts sent to your nephew and family. Thanks for catching us up on you!

and want everyone to be happy!

I had thought about a laptop too, but with animals that are determined cuddlers always jostling for space, I thought a tablet might be easier for me to use.

I had tried my friends ipad when he was here a couple of years ago, but wasn't looking for a serious replacement for a desktop back then, and didn't pay close attention. I should add ipads to my short list. I've been researching a couple of android systems that I like too.

If my health were better we probably would have already gone. We have lots of friends in the Puntarenas area.
I'd love to explore parts of Mexico too. Growing up in California, I started learning the Spanish in Kindergarten, and have always wanted to explore south of the border!

It's available in plug-in or aerosol spray. It mimics the pheremones that mama cats make to soothe kitties. Extremely useful, and available at pet supply stores.

I've been having histamine reactions to the other drugs they had tried, so I was looking for that sort of reaction and when I had no immediate breathing problems or being itchy, I really though that we had found a solution....then the inflamation kicked in..Grr.

Ah well...it's finally sort of subsiding to a bearable level...after about three weeks. It could be worse!

You've been through a lot!

But those little kitties and a chihuahua should make for much merriment!

Best wishes for your nephew and you, too!

Now if the little girlies would just realize they can "go" outside instead of coming IN to use the litterbox....
