I'm driving the family crazy with all the pumpkin and butternut squash dishes I've been making, but TOO BAD! I freakin love this time of year, and if they don't like it, then MORE FOR ME!

For the pinwheels, I chopped up some fresh spinach, half an onion, bell pepper, garlic, and threw in half a cup of parmesan cheese. Tossed it all together and placed a huge spoonful each steak piece and rolled it up.

I do the former. Brown the chicken, add any veggies I'm going to include, then the wine. All at a pretty high heat to start. Then turn it down to finish.

I'm always amazed at the chefs on the TV cooking shows who flip stuff in a skillet all aflame. Tempted to try it but my track record on kitchen glitches indicates a no go.

Have both sauces. Going to go for the green. There's chipotle red adobo sauce to add to the chicken filling for the corn tortillas. That with Monterey Jack, shredded cabbage, cilantro'd sour cream should make a nice mix. Plus steamed whole corn on the side.

1 c. warm water
1 pkg dry yeast
1 T. sugar (or honey)
I t. salt
3 1/4c. unbleached white flour
olive oil

Pour the water into a large bowl and add the yeast. Let sit for five minutes. Mix in the sugar and salt. Add the flour one cup at a time and mix after each addition. If needed add the 1/4 c. flour or more depending on how sticky it is. Knead in the bowl for a few minutes. Remove from bowl and use the olive oil to coat the bowl and top of the dough. Return to bowl

Cover with a clean tea towel and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk.

Punch down the dough and turn onto a clean, floured surface. Cut into 6 equal pieces, knead each piece for a minute or two and then roll into a 6" diameter circle that is 1/8" thick. Not important to be precise. Let the circles rest for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 500 F. Place the pitas on two cookie sheets and bake 6-8 minutes until puffed up and lightly brown. Serve immediately, or place in a paper bag to keep them supple.

lettuce, sweet peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, toasted walnuts, chopped baby carrots, craisins, bosc pear slices, mandarin orange wedges, olive oil, sliced turkey breast and black pepper. On a large dinner plate - takes about 30 min to eat, stuffs us, very satisfying!
My wife adds balsamic and spiced beets to hers.

bowl of Trader Joe cherry chocolate chip soy creamy for dessert.

Our day of detoxing after a 2 week vacation with nearly constant fresh seafood dinners!

Veggies that will be grilled will be yellow squash, red and orange peppers, and onions.

Brown rice pilaf.

I think I'll dip pear slices in chocolate for dessert. On his last trip, RG (resident gourmand) brought me three bags of melting chocolates!

When the daylight around here dwindles down below 10 hours. Happy gardening. The salad stuff grows like weeds. Arugula gets to edible size in a few weeks. Corn Salad is really fast as well. We keep kale and collards going all winter too, but that's for spring..
