and boiled until done. I had beef, pork, and veggies in mine

The noodles drank up the watery sauce and it turned out excellent.

Great idea for all those veggies that need to get taken care of, and gives you something to use during the week.

3. Sunday gravy is a big deal in Boston

because that with pasta is the way to feed a big, rollicking Italian extended family economically enough that the hosts don't have to start checking out which poorhouse to check into.

It usually is a clean out the fridge arrangement, but Friday and Saturday are big shopping days because that's when all the cheap veggie and fish stalls are set up in Dock Square, meat markets in the basement of the building adjacent to them.

I hope the whole thing survived the Big Dig, something that replaced a ridiculously badly engineered elevated highway adjacent to it.

My family didn't use up leftovers so much that I recall, but a friend's mom cleaned out the fridge and made chili once a week and that was also good.

But your recipe sounds so much better, so thanks for sharing.

7. I was not aware of a meal called 'Sunday Gravy'

until the last few years when I saw it on TV. The link you provided does not appear to be 'Sunday Gravy', at least as I learned it. I make it with tomato sauce, meatballs, pork ribs, and pork sausage. All of the meats are simmered in the sauce and served separately from the pasta course, which of course has the tomato sauce on it.

9. I make Sunday Gravy about every three months

That's about as long as it lasts for us in the Freezer.

My recipe includes:

Braciolle which also includes Prosciutto

Sweet and Hot Italian Sausage

Meatballs made with Pork and Beef

Country style Pork Ribs (with the bone if I can find them)

Panchetta

And of course all the veg.

I simmer it at least 4 hours and let it rest in the fridge overnight before serving
