Conglomeration of ingredients look a bit iffy, but I've got a back up - local deli.

(from an earlier post) - Thanks for chowder mention! Have the makings for fish, corn, pureed pumpkin chowder. Peppered grilled fish, roasted bell peppers and sweet corn from this afternoon's BBQ. Pumpkin puree from earlier in the week. New potatoes on hand plus some creamed corn to add to the mix and kale. Onions and garlic to saute. Milk, spices, etc.

********

Sauteed onion, garlic and bell pepper in a sauce pan w/ olive oil till just tender. Added water, 2 cubed new potatoes, basil and bay. Simmered till potatoes were just par boiled. Drained (reserved the boil water for something else, probably a base for some kind of veggie stock).

Broke up the grilled fish, added to creamed corn. Tossed in a couple of serving spoons of pumpkin pie mix. Had 1/2 cob of grilled corn left over. Cut off the kernels and added to the mix. Some tabasco and black pepper. Turned all together.

Put everything together in the larger pot, added milk and chopped kale. I'm in the thin chowder camp (i.e. New England style) so a good amount of milk in the pot. As it cooks potatoes will probably add some body.

On a low, low simmer now and smells pretty darn good.

Black pepper and tabasco didn't balance it out. Ate a whole bowl, but it was just odd. This one goes in the menu recycle folder.

Kale stir fry with red pepper.

Maybe a potato cake with sage.

Strawberries in balsamic vinegar for dessert.

p.s. about half of the above is being made with items from my garden, yay!

My best friend growing up family had a big garden and they always had yellow, green and wax beans. . I used to love eating them raw.

They're hard to get other than frozen or canned (yuk!) but Trader Joe's has had them lately.

I probably have it confused with the ones we had to string because they were tougher. I will check the prices on bananas tomorrow....mine might be cheaper since we are closer to the source.

Yeah, we are pretty far from where bananas grow. Those transport costs add up!

We have some leftover spiced beef patties and couscous. Also some good cheese and a killer heirloom tomato that needs eating.

Will dig around and see what else needs to be eaten today.

Boat is still undergoing repairs, making it virtually impossible for me to either clean or provision.

Good news is that the installation of the wind generator was completed today. It appears to be working great and is very, very quiet!
