Pintos are in the crock pot, just have to cut up/shred all the fixin's and make some guacamole.

I know that might sound a little strange for a summer dish, but I'm reading this book:



which gives a recipe and then tells why it works. Example: in making a quick chicken broth, chopping the chicken into pieces and browning it first imparts a deeper flavor. Also cooking the onion for 5" and then adding the chicken back in to sweat it for 20". Then add boiling water.

This is all very interesting to me as this is not how I would have approached it, but the idea is to learn something new.

Later on this broth and chicken will be used to make Chicken Soup with Gnocchi.

and not succeeding well with some potato pancakes. My cucumber salad with black olives looks good though!

I hope I can make a few more of these and see if they are edible, the first few fell apart.
