My worst cooking disaster in years.

Every spring I cook corned beef and cabbage.

This year I decided to make it more colorful

I used purple cabbage.

Simmered the beef for about 3 and 1/2 hours then added the cabbage for the final 30 minutes.

OMG!11!!

I'l have to be blindfolded to eat the blue meat.

it's not really that big a disaster.

I suggest candle light. From one candle. A birthday cake candle.

I made a bean soup once with purple cabbage. I brought it into work and put it in the fridge. I went to grab it at lunch and it was gone. I was pretty mad - what kind of person would steal my obviously homemade lunch?!!

Turns out there was a coworker who was equally mad at the person who left their lunch in the fridge so long it had spoiled beyond all recognition, and he threw it out.

One night, I had a bunch of Army buddies over for a real home-cooked meal and made beef stroganoff.
Suddenly, I realized that the place was quiet as a church and realized that they had gone on the discussed
mega-beer run without even asking if I wanted to go along.
.
Well... YEAH!!!!
.
.
I put a serious quantity of blue vegetable coloring in the stroganoff sauce and, when they returned, told
them that the meat must've been spoiled (and showed them).
.
"This cost too damn much to waste -- I'm gonna try it!!!!!"
.
Started spooning it into my face to their concern and horror. Eventually told them.

Go on. Go on another beer run without me.

Try making onion soup with red onions some time. The same sort of result.

Really only the meat fat looks tinted, at least in this picture.

Before I sliced it, it was a blue lump of WTF?

It tastes fine and will not go to waste.

I notice my neighbors have been having a lot of candlelight dinners lately.

Then I saw him on the road, bringing in his trash barrel. He has grown a most ridiculous mustache--kind of like Yosemite Sam.

Now I know the reason for the candlelight dinners.

I have made some things where the color was really, really awful.

Candles, and not too many of them.
