What a surprise - a request for cookbook recommendations

Not sure if this should be here or over in vegetarian, but I thought I'd try here first.

I'm thinking of giving a raw diet a try for a little while. I've been on a diet for just over a month now and have dropped about 10 pounds, so I thought that while I'm at it, I'd try this.

Any recommendations for a good, practical raw foods cookbook. I'm not looking for something for the "true believer," but rather for something that "mere mortals" not would not find intimidating. I'd prefer to avoid recipes that start with something along the lines of "four days before you want to eat, soak obscure and hard to find beans in virgin spring water and Himalayan salt mined by fair trade miners," and goes on from there.

Thanks.

I've got some Asian cook books with stuff like that. Add two tblsps dried dungbeetle paste and one oz. unobtainium...

You might try Dr. McDougle cookbooks. Google him. Not so much raw but Vegan, fat free, using things you can actually get at the super. The recipies are delicious!

because your choices will be so limited. It's a deficiency diet so don't throw out your pots and pans, you will start to cook your food again at some point.

Also expect to be jet propelled from the vastly increased fiber, especially if you're eating a lot of raw legumes.

ETA: stay far away from cookbooks written by famous raw restaurant chefs. You will not only need the fermented beetle's tongue, you'll also need a lot of fancy equipment to make sure your food is never heated above 118F.
