WOW!
Just 11 days till our first HUGE party and I am beyond excited! Cue up 24 hours to go by the Ramones, though maybe something from DJ Redfoo might be more appropriate since hell be there playing music.
Talk about an adrenaline rush. I am humbled and honored that Figue will be the host of the After Party of Desert Smash, a star-studded affair where pro tennis and Hollywood collides with players such as Novak Djokovic, Maria Sharapova, Andre Agassi, and stars including Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani, Christian Slater and Joe Pesci to raise money for Childrens charities. What a way to kick off our Restaurant opening!!
I am absolutely honored and floored that Celebrity Chef Beau Macmillan may make an appearance and cook for the event as well! Beau Mac has been a friend for a long time and it always is an honor to cook with him.
end>
Francois was Beau's mentor.......

As soon as I walked in, I immediately noticed Timothy Olyphant who plays the scruffy but sexy U.S. Marshal in FXs Justified. He was at the bar talking to a woman.....
As a fan of Top Chef, it was hard to not notice Chris CJ Jacobsen who at 6 8 ½ towers above the crowd.

Timothy Olyphant......YEA Baby!!!
There are lots of pictures on the Figue Facebook link. The dood is fabulous!

Local entrepreneur Lee Morcus invited a couple hundred of his closest friends and colleagues for a sneak preview of his latest restaurant concept last night, and the consensus is that he has a winner on his hands.
Figue Mediterranean is an airy, contemporary remake of the former Amore restaurant, and its designed to encourage sharing, from the long sharing tables to the comfy sofas. Of course there are regular tables, too, for more intimate dining.
Chef Francois de Melogue was imported from Chicago to oversee the kitchen and has collaborated with Lee to create a menu thats a foodies dream come true. Mediterranean cuisine is the latest hot culinary trend in the U.S. because it uses fresh, seasonal ingredients, its flavorful, and its healthy.
Figues spring menu includes a lot of dishes we dont encounter in the Coachella Valley wood grilled octopus, pistou soup, Fideuà (paella made with thin noodles instead of rice), and sea bream and a lot were familiar with but that have an interesting twist. Like beef tartar with Lebanese spices and quail egg, wood fired rotisserie suckling pig, and oysters on the half shell with harissa cocktail sauce. If youre not adventuresome, theres plenty youll recognize and enjoy, from small pizzas to seafood stew. One thing you wont find in abundance is meat there are just a couple of beef dishes, chicken tagine, lamb, and the aforementioned pig. Assuming that last nights staff members are the actual employees, the level of service will be excellent.
