I like white pizzas, or just herbs and olive oil as the vase, but Bill is a big red sauce fan.

polenta, and steam-sauteed Brussels sprouts. Calves liver is a rare thing to find, so when I was shopping yesterday I couldn't resist. Also picked up a duck for Thanksgiving! Steak and Guiness pie sounds yummy, Lucinda! Have a great Sunday!

so I end up eating it for a couple of days in a row when I do find it!

I've been wanting duck for a while now.
I loooove Peking Duck. One of my favorite things ever, so I have duck envy!

Hope all is well in yellerpup land.

I used a recipe that had a delicious caramel onion/caramel apple--it was too chunky to be a sauce. Also crispy bacon garnish. It was quite good, but too rich for me to have more than twice a decade.

I'm so happy to have a duck! I have been searching for ducks and not finding any for the past few months. When we were on Long Island visiting Mr. Pup's family, I made him stop so I could buy a duck -- it's Long Island! They raise ducks there! None were in the store. Suddenly, ducks are rampant so I bought one for Thanksgiving and one for a later dinner party. I just used up the last of my frozen stash of duck fat, so the timing is fantastic. We're good around here. I'm working on a pilot script for a proposed animated series and having fun with it.

and cooks it with either steak or stew beef. Guinness beer is also added, and it makes a rick dark sauce.
That gets transferred to an oven safe dish, and it is topped with mashed potatoes and cheese and is baked until the cheese melts and browns.

You can also include chunks of potatoes in the base and top with a puff pastry top.
Bills uses the mash instead.

Yummy comfort food!
