by someone else. Ah, the *big* city has many options - one chinese restaurant, two mexican, one pizza place, a steak house and one italian. So many choices!

(Take out left overs from yesterday.) Had a big plate of French toast and fruit with my friend Lois for brunch today so it's grazing through whatever's on hand the rest of the day.

Got a really great buy on good feta, so it's time to use it! $1.99 for 16 oz brand name crumbled feta.

Fresh spinach for the filling, too.

If any of you live in areas with Grocery Outlet stores, I urge you to check out their cheese section. Nothing fancy, but the prices are really good. Better than Trader Joe's in some instances.

I've been without internet since the storm on Oct. 29. Don't see it coming back anytime soon, either. I am on a library computer at the moment and hope to stop by more often for my i'net fix until I get my own internet back in service.

It's been a rough time. I was without power for 10 days. Missed work for 10 days, too.

Stove top worked, though! Cooked up some good food. Between that and my fireplace, it was the only source of heat in the house.

Tonight will be a soup recipe from Anna Thomas' Love Soup book. It's Moroccan soup and I made the broth earlier today. Tonight I'll polish it off by adding the fennel, turnips, etc. It can be served as a more substantial dish by serving it over couscous, which I think I will do. I hope I have the right stuff for harissa.

Grasswire, your spanikopita sounds terrific, although I've made it with fresh spinach and almost passed out from all the work.

without power for ten days, and glad to hear that you fared well . . . as well as one can under those circumstances.

I'll have to check out Anna Thomas' Love Soup book as it's soup making season and I love soups.

I'm so sorry to hear you were affected by Sandy! Do you have power but just not an internet connection? Or are you still without power?

What a mess. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

I looked up a few recipes and saw it is what I've been getting in my Vegetarian Plate at a local Mediterranean restaurant all these years. Thanks so much for the name to something I've loved for so long.

as eating a good, healthy breakfast, a good-sized lunch and little, if no, dinner. (Most of the time we're still full from the first two meals.) Having said that, we did Mediterranean for lunch yesterday.

Stuffed Grape Leaves
Hummas, Tzitzu (sp?) and pita bread
