The Mind of a Chef - PBS 16 part mini-series

I caught one episode of it last night and it was great. One of our local PBS affiliates is showing longs runs of it at a time. Here is the NYT review.

3. Not yet. But this looks like a great change from the tired Food Channel, my usual evening watch.

I really like the big picture on cooking. This seems along that line. My niece has scored a lead chef position at a CA winery. She's a Chez Panisse alumna, did two internships in central Italy...yet when we talk food she talks about local mushrooms, found greens and playing with what's on hand. She's got a real playful passion for food not menus or recipes.
