I have seen some awesome carved melons this year on the Internets.

(106,886 posts)Fruit salad in a watermelon "bowl" - summer picnic item. I'm going to try a simpler version, i.e. cut the melon in half, scoop, cube, add other fruits and plate.
A plus - the bowl simply goes in the trash or compost...

I have used a citrus zester to decorate the outside. Not as fancy as what is shown, though.

(31,170 posts)Waaaaaay back in the olden days I used to get sorbet packed into fruit halves at the fair. Great way to eat a treat and not add paper to the trash cans.

I used to make simple watermelon baskets, but now I'm gonna try to find some time to do at least one of these masterpieces.
