Fruit salad in a watermelon "bowl" - summer picnic item. I'm going to try a simpler version, i.e. cut the melon in half, scoop, cube, add other fruits and plate.

A plus - the bowl simply goes in the trash or compost...

like a simple basket with a handle.

I have used a citrus zester to decorate the outside. Not as fancy as what is shown, though.

Waaaaaay back in the olden days I used to get sorbet packed into fruit halves at the fair. Great way to eat a treat and not add paper to the trash cans.

They have been tracking food art. I don't have an original link though!

And thousands more.

Instructions and videos, too. And there seem to be bigtime carving competitions.

I used to make simple watermelon baskets, but now I'm gonna try to find some time to do at least one of these masterpieces.
