it's miserably hot again and we're in the process of moving, so it's going to be a lot of sandwiches and cereal for the next couple weeks.

i'll do a blowout celebratory dinner once we're settled.

I moved from a 2500 square foot home to one of the smallest living spaces you can imagine.

I took virtually nothing and it felt great.

Once in awhile I miss something, but not badly.

i'm getting rid of the giant pain in the ass bed frame, i've got a big pile of stuff for the thrift store and a pile of odds and ends that will, unfortunately, go into the trash if i can't unload them for free on craigslist.

we moved out of a 1200 square foot place three years ago (we had a roommate, but everything but his bedroom was ours) and have about half the space now. we've pared down quite a bit and it still seems like we have too much crap, but we're getting a couple hundred more square feet in the new place, so we won't feel as cramped.

i picked up the keys yesterday, so we have just over a week to get everything moved. that is going to be a nice change from the one day mess.

He made this dish in the food processor. I think it's some kind of Roman recipe he learned about when he lived in Rome. It's wonderful. He filled zucchini with it and we also had it with whole-grain crackers and sliced onion and little bits of hard boiled egg.

Dessert was something different, though. He made raspberry sauce with fresh raspberries and we had it on cake. Out of this world

Wonderful late-night summer meal. We listened to the neighbors playing jazz and we also watched a program from our favorite Canadian series, DaVinci's Inquest.

Left over plum jam/ginger broiled pork steak. Going to add some lime, maybe some hot sauce and fry up with a mess of veggies that need to get cooked.

I have had some tummy problems the last few days (sea sickness, maybe - it's been really rocky).

I just have to find things to put on it for the other half.

Taking a friend out to dinner but I'm still going to try to be good. I'm thinking some place with fish and veggies. And a cocktail!

One thing's for sure: I'm serving this mango pie I made!

BTW, those are almonds soaked in hazelnut liqueur on top of the meringue. Graham cracker crust. Filling made with two mangoes and mango nectar. Has lime in it, too.

For tonight, but it's ready to go now, just need to heat it up.

I took western style boneless ribs, cooked them covered in a skillet with some onion, pepper, and celery, de-fatted the broth then cooked down until almost totally reduced, browned the ribs slightly, then made a dark sesame sauce using a mix of a little ketchup, some Korean gochujang sauce, honey, molasses, ginger, garlic, and a lot of sesame oil. I also made a seafood pasta salad.

and fresh sweet corn and sliced tomatoes and cukes, from the Farmers Market. I love summer, something simple for the main dish and lots of fresh veggies.

Time to go put the brats on, enjoying sipping the rest of the beer!
