Can't you have one of those contraptions that hangs the grill out over the rail? Stinky The Clown Jun 2012 #7

My oven caught fire when I tried the self-cleaning function with the pizza stones in them. Since then, we are using our pizza stones in our gas grill. It gets up to 600 degrees and we have great results with it. No mess, no heat, and no smoke in the house. What is even better ... if they catch fire, I don't have to worry about the house burning up

The day Michael Jackson died, actually, I remember driving home with it in the back seat hearing the news reports that he had been rushed to the hospital and then just as I was pulling into my neighborhood hearing he had died.

I bought it to use as an outdoor oven. I was considering making an "earth oven" of clay and concrete, and that seemed like a much simpler solution.

Worked great to bake bread, pizza, etc. I set it up with a rack and stone to bake on, and worked it by building a fire under the rack, feeding it wood until it had burnt to a bed of coals. I used two clay flower pot saucers to open and close the top and the hole on the side, and a spray bottle of water, between those I was able to regulate the temp pretty well.

Unfortunately, the second season, the stupid thing got a big crack in it, and the crack continued to grow until it fell apart on me. I don't know if my fires were too hot or I did it in by getting too much water in there at some point, or if it was just because it was cheaply made mass market junk (my guess).

I'm on the lookout for a metal one this year, when they mark them down later in the summer.

Works with wood or gas....It's Ugly....and it's made out of an old oil drum which is somewhat icky but.....It's ingenious

I can't have one now, but if I ever get back on land, I will definitely get another Weber - and one of those!

But it is very small, very square and this thing is just not going to fit on it.
