(53,661 posts)Is there a lot of difference in the taste from standard french fries?
I've heard they are more healthy but I usually don't eat fries.
Are those baked or actually fried?

(22,145 posts)(but my Mom and m-i-l both live down there so we are there a couple times a month). I baked mine. I didn't think about how they are prepared prior to baking them. I thought they were delicious. Ore Ida makes them in "steak fries" and regular....I bought the regular ones. I have made my own, from scratch and baked them in the oven, but this is so darn convenient. I wish the grocers sold them around here, but I wish they sold a lot of things they don't sell!

(9,992 posts)Even the thought of firing up the microwave makes me sweat.
Sugar snap peas with lemon basil.
Tarragon mushrooms.
Sauteed zucchini, squash and grape tomatoes.
All possibly served room temp.
And a salad if shaking the dressing doesn't cause overheating.
Blergh.... it's gonna be a long summer.

(22,340 posts)Going to be a late supper as I'm doing a 12-mile bike ride and an hour of spinning here in about half an hour so I just made the pesto so I can heat everything up when I get back. Made a big batch of pesto so I can freeze it for later!

(146,218 posts)So, had a *boatload* of guests last night. Pulled out everything I had and just kept putting in on the table. As food is not easy to come by here, the only edible thing brought was a REALLY BAD banana nut bread that a friend had made in his pressure cooker. I cut it up into pieces and poured rum over it, then baked it until it was hot and crispy on top. Then I poured in some honey, slathered it with butter and added a bunch of cream. Baked it again and served. It was delicious.
But I digress. Looks like hotdogs and boxed shells with velveeta for us tonight.
I am going to have to break down and buy some things at the super expensive little store here.
Send me wishes for a ride to town!

(163,986 posts)We have no water to the kitchen sink and until someone does something about it, I'm on extended leave.
It's a long story but I've realized that as long as I keep compensating, nothing will be done about it. So, it's take out until something changes. Step one is fixing the leaks in every room that has water to it, two would be laying down a bigger main than we have now. It may be that I'll have water to the kitchen after #1 but it's not certain.

(41,694 posts)A friend of mine from Houston was in town so I grilled up a couple of ribeyes. Served on a toasted ciabatta bun with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions and grilled serranos. Kettle brand Spicy Thai potato chips on the side.
