After 7 months, I am down 60lbs and am under 200lbs

for the first time in 8 years. I'm still using myfitnesspal to track my food and fitbit to track my movement/energy output. Husband jumped on board and is doing the same plan, and has lost 20+lbs in 6 weeks.

I made my own lifestyle change in that direction 4 years ago. Went from 258 down to 196, doing most of it in about 6 months, but am doing a good job staying close - always creeps up over the holidays, then back when I am really active in the spring, summer and fall. The big loss is a huge victory - maintaining is the victory lap - and something that really is a major challenge - hence my viewing it as a lifestyle change - with no return to the habits that get us to where we don't want to be.

it will be slowing way down. I hope in the next 6 months to get to 175lbs, and then after that just let the weight settle downward however it will.

You have done a fabulous job yourself, it sounds like. Maintenance is what worries me. I have lost weight before and gained it back. (Too many times to count!) But I figure if I maintain the new lifestyle, the weight should stay down.

It keeps me honest - I just roughly convert food to "points" using an approx Weight Watchers valuation (it's not hard to think of 50 calories as one point - then calculate points per day - my current goal is below 40 points - 2000 calories - per day). It really is a method that makes you totally honest with yourself and helps me stay on track - it is not for everyone (my wife thinks I'm nuts - but does acknowledge that it helps me greatly!).

portions and calories without it. The scale and the log are here to stay.

loose skin is not my favorite thing, but at my age no one needs to see it anyway. LOL

I had a college English professor once tell our Maine Lit class that there is a word for "sticktoitiveness," Boinkum (bo-ink-um.) Apparently it's a really old Maine thing. I don't really recall ever hearing it in my lifetime, though, and I can't seem to find anything about it on google.

My friends who live in the Bebee Stanstead area of Quebec, near the Vermont border, had an elderly relative who used that word a lot when talking about having to have the boinkum to get a project done!!

PS I have so much loose skin but at 58 I'm not about to gross anyone out by wearing a bikini anyway
I dress appropriately for my age and get compliments. You will too if you don't already! ! !

done much shopping yet, but I look forward to buying some things for summer in May. Too bad I had gotten rid of my skinny clothes a few years ago. I would have loved to go closet shopping.

has wonderful taste when it comes to stuff that will look good on me. I on the other hand tend to buy things that are way too big on me. I still feel like I look really fat. Although I am well aware that I am skinny. And loose skin? .. LOL can we talk?


edited to add I was 133 lbs this morning, March 15th 2005 I was 302 lbs.
