Update: One month on the alternate day fasting regime.

I started at 193 early this month. I weighed my self this morning and I weigh 186.0.

Fasting has become easier. My mood and energy level are high on the fast days. I don't obsess on sticking to a strict 500-600 cals on the fast day. Some days I eat more, some days less.

If you aren't aware of the technique go here: http://www.ahs.uic.edu/news/title,10771,en.html

The benefits go beyond weight loss.

but then I ran into Esselstyn and Ornish .... (not the people; the books ... ) ... they promote the very program that carried President Clinton to success in reversing his heart disease some time ago ... ( DON'T EAT it if it has a face or a mother .. etc ...)

I decided to mix both - Strict veganism and 5:2 ...

One week in. and pounds are flying off ... down 14 easy pounds in one week ...

Expecting slower results next week, but thrilled at the prospect of actual bona fide success ...

Almost completely animal free diet (half a greasy cheeseburger on Tuesday night and egg whites this morning)

I gotta say, I am loving how this is all working out so far ...

in an attempt to pack a lot of nutrition into the one meal on my fast day.

I'm not good at following directions, so the feast/fast diet is something I can handle. It's what you don't do, not what you do that works with this diet. You skip two meals, breakfast and supper on your fast day.

I"m down to 182 now, and by next week I should be 181 to 180. When I get to 175, I'm going 5-2.

It's good to see you losing weight in such a dramatic fashion. It makes every task easier when you don't have to lug around that extra weight.

I recently went to the doctor. I had several heart tests and blood tests and the doctor said I am very healthy. We discussed the diet and she said she thinks the NIH guidelines are too strict when it comes to BMI. She said 170 should be a good weight for a man of my age. I'm 68.

Let me know how the 5-2 is working out for you.
