my son thinks he is a sovereign citizen.

le sigh.
he is in cook county jail. he got nabbed speeding in wis, and decided it was a good idea to try to outrun the cops.
he blew off his court dates, of course. i dont know how he got picked up, but presume he got caught pretending the traffic laws dont apply to him.

his public defender begged him to ask for extradition to wis, instead of going to cook county jail. but no.
he actually tried to play that shit in court. and his gf almost joined him in jail for yelling at the judge. (she paid his $1500 bail w money she couldnt really afford to lose.)

have no idea what is going to happen to him in jail. but sorta hoping he has a full on meltdown, and gets kicked to the psyche ward. i had to have him picked up twice just recently. the first time he got 72 hours, but the second time he was able to get out after a night in the er.
i just hope that he isnt traumatized by more than 30 days w no weed.

i always thought those people had real issues. now i know they do.

P.S. Cook County jail was locale of my first job after college, as 'secretary' for 'Civil Legal Aid Service,' which no longer exists. I carried my portable typewriter to/from CCJ every day.

That job led me to my legal profession (as well as to helping those rounded up in Chicago during '68 Democratic Party Convention, when mayor daley created a police riot.)

Johnny Paycheck, a notorious outlaw country star, said a stint in jail saved his life. It made him dry out for a while and get his head straight.

It sounds like your son might use some psychiatric meds once he dries out. It might be more agreeable to him after he's sober for a bit and realizes how badly he's wrecking his life.

i actually have a ton of respect for the cook county sheriff. he tries very hard, works his rear off, and will do anything to bring some hope to those in his jail.
he is working to end the days of ccj being the biggest psyche ward in the country. maybe he will break down and accept some help.
they will be able to see his recent encounters. i kinda doubt they will do much for a short timer like him, but who knows what he is gonna do there.

some days i hate being a mom. they can pull so much shit on you, but they are still your kids.
doesnt mean i have to put up w it, and i dont. at least not for long. but shit. not sure which is harder- putting up w it, or putting your foot down. at least the sibs are on my side here.

and it got him sober and clean. He went kicking, screaming and crying and practically destroyed his family. Over a year later he said he wished it had happened to him 10 years earlier and it is what he needed.

We parted ways when my grandchildren said gay was a sin and they would go to hell...and I understood my family and I must part ways.

I am not gay, but have had gay encounters with friends who are gay...and no reason for them to go to hell!

Of course I do see the difference...your son's very life is in danger...very scary

sigh. i dream of a day when mental illness is conquered and we can live in a rational world w/o either extreme bending the curve.

i am more worried for the child involved. flushing his own life is one thing, but making a little kid's childhood shit just keeps me up at night.
