surgery will be scheduled for sometime in January. No more chemo. Wife needs an EC PT, and a liver examination to insure that the surgery will not be wasted if it's metastasized throughout the bileary tree and the liver.

Doctor said that with the surgery the term of survival is usually 40 months provided everything goes almost perfect and no infections develop or other complications.

Without surgery and no further treatment the term of survival is 14 months max with the final 3-4 months being heartbreaking.

we are in shock to say the least.

and that the tests come out positive and she can proceed to surgery. Many things can take place in those months, memories and medical advances as well, so try and put one foot in front of the other. Easier said than done I know.

Since the time of my husband's first transplant four years ago for a blood cancer (AML) they have made advances for certain types of blood cancers, this article is for ALL and they are working on other types including AML. We met two patients at Sloan while inpatient in November who were undergoing this treatment and were so happy to meet one of them last week in the waiting room for an outpatient visit. He looked and acted totally different from the person who struggled to walk around the hall.

You just never know if you or your loved one will beat the odds long enough ... someone will be the first in a breakthrough. This is a tough journey for those and their caregivers, stay determined, but also try and enjoy each moment. I'm so much better at giving encouragement than receiving it!!!

8. I want to thank everyone for the kind words

we have not even begun to fight this damn cancer. We are going for a second opinion on the 18th this month. another ecpt on the 19th, and a liver check ( I forget what it's called dammint) soon after.

We are not going to go meekly into the night, no friggin way, We have too much invested in ourselves to do that and if it ends badly,
at least we can say we tried with all our might and hearts.

You guys rock my world, although we've never met in person there is a cosmic bond of some type that just helps.
