And haven't seen The Leftovers yet. But l am loving Fargo, it's outstanding. The first season was also. And The Fall/Killing were both great too.

I'm getting ready to start a new one from Netflix, River or The River, I forget which. Stars Stellan Skarsgard who is always excellent.

It holds up well for 20 years. The first few episodes were shaky, as happens in most series, but they're now into full comedy (with a message) swing. Not many shows make me laugh out loud, but here, there are tons of little throw away lines that bring a chuckle or sometimes an outright guffaw.

I think O'Conner took a wrong turn when the show ended. She should have pushed more for comedy. She doesn't quite make it as a serious actor. Lawless, on the other hand, can do anything well.

Those two still, to our tastes, stand at the top of the list.

We've also watched the original, old, PBS Upstairs and Downstairs twice through - quite the marathons, those!

Everything about them worked: the writing, the acting, the direction, sets and locations, and themes. That's how they become classics to watch again and again.

Everything works - acting, music, filming technique, plot, dialog - and it is taking its time. It is allowing for being drawn in, for immersion.

It is the opposite of so many of the big blockbuster (or even non-blockbuster) films these days.

It's probably why we've also watched Babettes' Feast or Big Night or Out of Africa or Babel so many times over the years! The movie equivalent of comfort food!

Took me a couple episodes to get into Better Call Saul, now I really like it.
This season's Fargo I am saving up to binge watch, cause it is written in such a way that is the best way to see it, IMHO.

I am on The Good Wife binge. I think the writing is so superb, the characters are great ( love Alan Cummings), really enjoying binges of it thanks to Netflix.

And The Knick! Wow!!!!! highest marks.
