The Good Lie — worth a look

A film from Oct. 2014, produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, starring Reese Witherspoon and Sudanese actors Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, and Nyakuoth Weil.

Deeply moving film that explores survival, sacrifice, family and personal growth, based on historical events and personal stories of refugees that survived the 1983 civil war in Sudan and immigrated to the United States. While the screenplay is very much a classic Hollywood concoction, the viewer remains aware of the heinous truths of which it is built on. And that's enough to keep you riveted.
