Try The Grand Seduction.

A small fishing village needs to entice a doctor to relocate to the village in order to get a factory to build there to provide much needed jobs. It's a sweet movie without being sappy. Give it a try.

Our poor doctor is of course a fish out of water just like Joel was in Northern Exposure, in a town full of eccentric and delightful characters. Highly recommend it
