Fruitvale Station

Has anyone seen this yet? If so what are your opinions about it? I've been reading into the back story of this movie and it's incredibly fucked up on multiple levels. The movie looks really good and I hear it won "Best In Show" and "Best Debut" at Sundance this year.

It's not the greatest movie ever, but you'll get to know Oscar Grant, the father, the boyfriend, the son, the buddy, the human being!. He was not a perfect angel, but he in no way deserved to be shot or even harassed by then police that night. He was not some nameless thug who got caught and got killed while doing something wrong. On the other hand, there is no time whatsoever spent on examining Johannes Mehserle, the BART policeman convicted of Oscar's manslaughter. It wasn't about him at all, and I think that says something about the filmmaker's point in itself.

It hurt to see how that whole awful night went down, but I think it's important to know what went on beyond the newspaper and tv stories. That's what I got out of it anyway.
