We never watched Lost. Is it worth starting? (Original Post) Stinky The Clown Apr 2013 OP
It certainly is novel storytelling. Not overly dramatic. I enjoyed the first three seasons. applegrove Apr 2013 #1
We loved it. It must be seen from the very beginning and watched fairly carefully. cbayer Apr 2013 #2

You will love the characters.

Watch one season, take a little break. You will be impatiently waiting for season two.

I watched and discussed with LOSt Internet groups.

We can discuss here if you want . There are a lot of small things to notice carefully.

We didn't actually start watching live until Season 3. I watched so little TV at the time, I actually thought it was just another reality show (which I detest) with people "lost" on some desert island until a good friend filled me in on what it was really about, and made me want to check it out. We watched the first two seasons on DVD, then were hooked, and started watching live with the third season.

It is still my favorite show of all time. It's the only TV show that I ever anticipated that eagerly each week. (Second would be BSG.)

I also watched and discussed on a message board devoted to LOST, which did enhance the experience tremendously. LOST created a huge community of fans, many of whom are still together and now discuss other TV shows.

It is a character-driven show with interesting backstories told in flashbacks. The plot and mysteries are what drew a lot of fans in, but those actually are less important than the characters themselves. I loved all of it, though. And still do. One day, when I have time, I'll do a rewatch from start to finish.

I made it through all six seasons, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The first two were interesting. The third started going downhill rapidly. Fourth was boring. Fifth they were making it up as they went along. Sixth was beyond redemption with possibly the sappiest ending I've ever seen.

I ended up hating all but a couple of characters, and most certainly the writers.

If you want some decent science fiction, there's Lost Girl and Warehouse 13. Firefly is a winner, too.

I loved it the first few seasons and it went downhill. By the end, I had quit watching, but I watched a rerun of the ending and it was so lame

We started watching it last night. Got through four episodes of Season 1. Right now, I'm kinda unsure. It has been watchable and, on some levels, engaging.

I don't think they help themselves by keeping the "monsters" hidden. Instead of being suspenseful, I find it annoying.

But after several shows, just couldn't anymore. I felt manipulated by their devices like the invisible monster. Sheesh. And more importantly, they were not able to get me interested in any of the characters. They all seemed like jerks.

So, yeah, they are all jerks in some way. Even the ones you don't initially think are. But follow through on the character sketch and most will redeem themselves.

I'm a sucker for the redemption theme.

it took me about 5 episodes before it drew me in pretty good. I really enjoyed Sawyer, and Hugo, they are still my two favorites. Josh Holloway(the actor who played Sawyer) was pretty good, and I wonder why I haven't seen him in more shows, I thought he was great. And Hugo, he is just a big teddy bear. Oh, and John Locke, I really like his character, so flawed but trying so damn hard to prove to others that he is worth something.

The first three season's were the best, and then I believe the writers didn't know what to do really and we had a few sloppy storylines. I think the series started to fail a bit because they had to push storylines to get bigger, bigger, and BIGGER when in reality they could've played small ball with the island and the characters storyline instead of pushing some of the more outlandish storylines.

Oh, and this show introduced me to Michael Emerson, he played the character of Ben Linus very well. I didn't think I'd like this show, when the show was airing I would always laugh and joke about "well, season three of being trapped on an island, whoop dee flippin doo" but after giving it a chance, it did impress me.
