The three colors trilogy - "Bleu, Blanc et Rouge" - if you've not seen these....so powerful!

A few weeks ago, we re-watched Red. Remarkable. Two nights ago, White. A bit lighter, but still amazing. Tonight, we watched Blue, which is indescribably powerful, and to us, the best of the trilogy, if not one of my favorite all time movies. Juliette Binoche, the music, the visuals, the plot - it is something that stays with you.

Kieslowski is a genius - these movies, the Decalog, Double Life of Veronique - all brilliant.

The three color trilogy is based on the colors of the French flag, with the general themes liberty, equality, and fraternity. The themes do play out in the movies, but in surprising ways that make you think.

I can't recommend these films highly enough.

The Decalog is Keislowski's treatment of each of the Ten Commandments.
