Got the newest mRNA COVID-19 booster yesterday...

And my influenza jab at the same time. My arm is just a little sore. But my legs feel like they are burning and they are between five and six on the pain scale right now. There are other places that are hurting but not like my legs.

Has anyone else had the same or a similar experience? What suggestions, if any, do you have that might help? I'm literally nauseated from the pain. It's like my legs are on fire.

I got the Pfizer version of the mRNA jab when in the past all of my jabs have been the Moderna versions. I don't know the manufacturer of the flu shot. I wish I had asked.

I have constant pain anyway, as a result of an autoimmune disorder. I take a sustained release opioid for that every twelve hours. I can't function in daily life otherwise. This pain is different.

By the way, if anyone has any information on the Pfizer jab I'd really appreciate it if you would share it.

1. I did the same yesterday afternoon.

Got a flu shot and a pfizer booster. All my other shots have been pfizer.

Felt fine yesterday but woke up creaky, feeling a little drained. I don’t have any of the pains you’re describing but if I had to focus my fatigue, it would be in my hips/legs.

Hopefully, this will behind you throughout the evening into tomorrow.

2. I had Moderna Thursday

I don't know if it was a Pfizer/Moderna combo. I also got the flu shot, separate arms. Past shots were all Pfizer/Biontech. Most reactions were mid-level mild, except the follow up for #1, which was a quick 20 days later. I got a very early vaccine, late 2020, I don't think they had the time between them correct.

As for this week's Moderna. I got walloped. Not burning pain in legs, but substantial pain, like extreme exercise in the back of the calfs. ALso fatigue, light fever, sweating. I stayed warm, with heating pad, and took aspirin, naproxen, Ibuprofen intermittently.

Today I'm tired but am much better. Tomorrow the side effects will be gone.

I have been lying in bed which has a heated mattress pad. It's like a giant heating pad and it's awesome. And I took 1000mg of Tylenol. I guess I should give it 24/48 hours and if it's much worse call my doctor and speak to his nurse to see what she thinks.

3. No info , but my sympathy ❤️‍🩹

I had Pfizer’s for first 3 , and moderna for last 2. My next is scheduled for this Thursday and it’s moderna
I only had reactions to the 1st 2 Pfizers and none to last 3 vax …
Not sure what to expect from the next .

Someone here reported burning mouth , but that’s all I’ve heard.

I have had only Moderna jabs. And I wanted Moderna but I couldn't find it where I am. I was lucky to find any vaccine at all. The places that I looked had none at all. But I was determined to get it done Friday so I took what I could find when I eventually found something.

I got it at a CVS. They said they just got a new batch in that day and supplies were already running low.

So I followed something my Mother used to say, "Grab it and growl." And here we are...

4. Had both the Pfizer and the flu shot last Friday

Sore arms and a general feeling of yuck. Tired and slightly nauseated most of the week but today, felt much, much better. This was the first of the vaccinations that I had any adverse response to. Another friend of mine went through the same symptoms when she got both her vaccines. I'm not going to get both at the same time next year.

I hope to get the Moderna one but my last booster walloped me so I skipped the very last one.

15. So sorry to hear that you've had such a rough go! Nausea is the worst!

Doubling up doesn't seem like as good an idea as I first thought.

I did it with Moderna last flu season and I don't remember what happened exactly. I wish I had kept a record of my reactions to them all.

I don't think I'll double up again, even though every medical professional I've spoken with says it's okay.

6. My wife and I had both Pfizer Covid and flu shots on Monday . . .

Our Covid shots have always been Pfizer and we've never had a reaction, outside of slightly sore arms. Last year, I had both Covid and flu at the same time. Other than sore arms, nothing untoward.

This time, both of us were knocked for a loop. We both felt fine the first day, but Tuesday morning I was only able to put in a single mile of my usual 3-5 mile treadmill walk, while my wife just made it through her 1/2 hour stationary bike ride.

Both of us were exceptionally tired for the next few days, and didn't seem able to shake a general air of malaise. We've both gotten better as the week's gone on, but neither of us feels 100%.

My wife has RA and has had to work through some very sore legs, but she attributes it to the hiking we did a few weeks ago while on vacation, and over-exerting herself in the yard on our return.

After reading about your and your wife's experiences, I have concluded that I probably need to lower my expectations.

No two shots are alike especially when autoimmune disease is involved. It's the flare ups that get you.

7. I am absolutely not a doctor, but I think perhaps you should talk to a doctor.

I have never heard of a reaction quite like that, and according to this study which has not yet been peer-reviewed it might be related to your autoimmune disorder. If so, and if it persists, a short dose of corticosteroids might help: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9128783/

The corticosteroids idea is a great one. I've been in the position of needing those many times.

They are fantastic except for the insomnia I have every time. But the alternative is much worse.

10. Yes to leg burn

Upper thigh, one leg only, 24 hrs. and it disappeared. This was following the new version of the vaccine. Also was fatigued out for a day. Not only fine now but it cleared up a few bronchial issues I was still having from Omicron that were quite worrisome so happy to have Pfizer stick it to me again

25. I got my 7th Moderna shot yesterday

My regular pharmacy only had Pfizer which I did not find out until I got there. I got my flu shot a week ago and then found a pharmacy nearby for my COVID vaccination.

So far just some soreness in the arm that got the shot. Since I had six prior shots, they did not make me wait the 15 minutes

27. I wish I'd waited for the Moderna. I don't think I'm going to quit masking anyway.

I've already got damaged lungs from repeatedly getting pneumonia. I don't want to catch anything really. Autoimmune illness is no joke.

28. I have COPD even though I never smoked

I am still wearing a mask and will continue to do so for a while

My pulmonologist did a cat scan I have some lung damage evidently from Houston pollution in the 1980s and my mother being a chain smoker.
