Question about fasting glucose levels that vary from the low 90's to around 105

My fasting glucose was right at 100 the last time I got my bloodwork. I'm 54 and other than that my bloodwork is really good other than a slightly low WBC count. I cut out sugar almost completely the past 4 months and bought a glucose monitor. It's strange that my fasting glucose varies from the low 90's to around 105???? What would cause it to swing so much? I can't find anything definitive on this. I do notice the monitor can give slightly different readings if I do it several times in a row but no a huge swing. Also, my glucose never gets that high after a meal. Generally around 125 to 130. So am I pre-diabetic or not? If some days it's in the 90's and other days the low 100's?

Anyone with some medical training that can answer this? I won't be doing bloodwork again for a few more months. Will ask my doctor at that point. Just curious if anyone here knows. Thanks

your blood sugar. If it is in the morning, then it depends on what you ate the night before. And how complex the sugars were. Remember, it's more about carbs than just sugar. I have no medical training, just the experience of being present at many diabetic trainings.

A lot of things can cause fluctuarions in glucose levels, like infections (even from bug bites or a paper cut), stress, level of exercise over the past 24 hours, you get the picture.

I'd say don't trouble trouble until trouble troubles you.

That might be a better indicator for your situation. Based on what you’ve said, it’s probably 5.4 or lower, which is pretty good.

Shouldn't worry unless it goes consistently above 125 for fasting. Your A1c is what really matters

Pre-diabetes. This test reflects you blood sugar levels over the past 3 month period.

You can buy a kit and measure your own A1c at home.

Fasting blood sugars > 100-125 indicate pre-diabetes.

This isn't body temperature or blood pressure which stay somewhat the same, it will vary a little day to day. There is a natural variation even strip to strip. But as an Insulin Dependent Diabetic I can tell you that to hit between 90-105 is literally perfection. And your after meal number looks great too. Here is a tip try taking a sublingual melatonin at night, it will help keep your insulin receptors working their best, it is easier to make the receptors be up-regulated than it is to get the body to produce more insulin. Another thing that can help is to eat some olive oil, unsaturated fats like that can reduce the risk of diabetic complications.
