Only 25% nominated are women, when most movies seem to have more or less and equal number of men and women involved. Either men are just faaar better actors, or these scripts are being written with the best roles favouring men. I'm not saying this very well ..... but this is really messed up.

Female characters are often not fully developed and are male defined more often than not.

How can an actress stand out if her character is such a shallow joke of a person. Compare most roles for women to the roles of women in the Good wife, for instance. There is no comparison.

Best actor, Best actress etc so they are not competing against each other.

This large gender difference in the number of noms and awards has to be due to all the other categories like best director, sound editor, cinematography etc. So the question is how does Hollywood attract more women into the technical, behind the camera jobs that have been traditionally dominated by men.
